Planets app is a Kotlin app utilizing the Planets Info by NewbAPI to provide information about the planets in our vast solar system.

Why make a basic app about planets?

This app showcases my ability to build a scalable app utilizing the following libraries and components:

• Use Case in Domain Layer
• Mapping Data Between Layers

• Kotlin Flows

• Coil

I decided to go back over the fundamentals and build a basic app utilizing as many preferred components to make a scalable, efficient, and reliable application. I spent months going through numerous codelabs to build a stronger foundational knowledge of building a proper android app. Here are a couple I completed:

It's always a good idea to review fundamentals and take the time to learn how to do things correctly. This is true for Android development and life in general.

Creating this app helped me learn the basics of JetPack Compose and hammer in the foundational knowledge for building apps correctly. While this app will likely never see the Google Play Store, it still serves its purpose for being able to showcase my understanding of the basics.

In my next project, I will implement the same foundational knowledge and expand my knowledge by implementing JetPack Navigation.
